What ends do you rep?

I’m born in Paris but raised in suburb – inner city so not the Paris you usually see on postal card. I’ve been living in London for the past 5 years – in Tottenham for 2 years. I love this city for what it offers – way of life, meetings – but this pandemic changes the picture.  Spending half of your income in rent to live in a city where you stuck at home is not worth it.

What was the last event you went to pre-lockdown?

The last music event I went was at The Waiting Room in Stoke Newington – also hosted by Rimbombo ha! The party was awesome, among some colleagues from Mare Street Market. Also the last one before becoming a dad!

1 local restaurant/food spot recommendation?

San Marco – Italian Restaurant in Tottenham, near Bruce Grove overground station.  Good quality of food – affordable put into London context. My recommendation will be the lasagna – so peng! The venue itself is welcoming and cosy – it’s like being out of London at least an hour. In Tottenham again

Who did you vote for in the last elections?

Unfortunately, I can’t vote in UK. If I could, I would go for labour even though someone like Tony Blair can be among them. Can’t be worse than what we got now. I am so upset with the lack of humanity of this government. This crisis showed us the way how this society works, as we said in France marche ou crève (do or die) – ‘survival of the fittest only the strong survive’ (Mobb Deep – Survival of the Fittest)

What are you working on at the moment?

As you know I am still on this podcast project that take ages to come out (I am slow) but I am hopeful to finally release some stuff soon. This podcast will discuss identity through afro-descendant perspective – in French to start – and hopefully in English when I will be more confident.

Describe your mix.

House baby! Listening and play house music give me so much good vibes and energy. I can just let myself and my mind go into an endless journey – I highly recommend!

Regarding my mix, I went into house, deep and afro-latin. There is a special one for yourself (Joseph Tunde) Da Poose – Searchin’ Hard. That’s a track that I introduced you and then you played on few occasions.  It means a lot to me.

1 music venue/club you have love for.

My preference goes for small venues where you likely have chance to meet people and have good chats. In term of music and artist selection, ‘La Concrete’ – shut down in 2019 – and the Rex Club were on point. Even though when crowded La Concrete can be a nightmare as you are on a boat, so French innit? In London, I love the Pickle Factory. The venue is intimate, I am never disappointed – the DJ and music selection are always great and eclectic. Grow Tottenham  is a great place either to hang out or party. Basically, it’s a communal garden and all the proceeds are donated to keep and develop the garden.

1 park/nature reserve you spend time in.

I love walking down or cycling by the canal – Lee Valley, Regents Canal – Downhills Park Bruce Castle or Lordship Park in Tottenham. When I compare to France and Paris, I realise how lucky am I to live into a such big city that offers a large quantity of parks and reserve.

1 record shop recommendation.

Dusty Groove in Chicago. Really eclectic you can get brand new and old school stuff from any genre.

If you could change 1 thing about the music industry, what would that be?

I will change the way this industry is run – I will put more dedicated people who understand and value the creative work – plus we need more female in management position.
