What ends do you rep?
Notts Notts Notts!
Describe your mix.
March marks Women’s History Month and I think it’s safe to say that March ‘21 has been a difficult one for women and people of marginalised genders. I wanted to create a mix that demonstrates a bit of what I love about my sisters.
1 artist you want to hype.
Producer TULIP88 has been making moves lately with his transition into solo work. He made his name as one half of Congi and his latest offering is strictly hip-hop peppered with features from a range of our best Notts based acts.
I would also like to mention visual artist and sis Honey Williams. Her work is all about decolonising narratives around beauty standards, identity, history and music, and was recently featured in Freize.
1 music venue/club you have love for.
I love Rough Trade Nottingham for everything they stand for and do for the community. I miss that place so much and it’s one of the first places I am looking forward to heading back to soon. Big up to Kyle and the crew there.
1 independent clothing brand you got love for.
I have to say Mimm store, another cornerstone of Nottingham culture. Nate is a real visionary and has been moulding the landscape of fashion and music in our city for 10 years now by having an eye for seeking out the very best of creative talent around him. The store has always [been] the hub and the garments are always spicy.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m a member of SHEAfriq collective, a group of women creatives from Nottingham of African descent. We have been pulled apart by lockdown but as things start to ease we can’t wait to start taking up space with events in the city again. Look out for us!
